The Autobahn restaurant at Pune’s Phoenix Mall takes pride in offering a distinctive experience to the patrons. The eatery’s uniqueness is owed to the food being served on conveyor belts; the purpose – reducing human effort.
Well, for starter and dessert dishes, you can take your pick from the different-colored bowls that are put on the conveyor belts; they run parallel to the tables. Keep in mind, green bowls carry vegetarian dishes; grey ones are filled with salads; red containers are for non-vegetarian fare; and desserts are stored in the blue ones.
For the main course, you have to place your order from the restaurant’s La Carte menu. Your order is delivered via the Express Delivery system that is stationed on the table for 30 seconds before returning to the kitchen, and you have to unload the dishes within the time given.
The name ‘Autobahn’ is taken from Germany’s freeways. However, only Indian cuisine is served at the quick-food restaurant. The dishes’ quantities are enough for 2 people. Some must-try starters are the Dahi ka Karara Kebab and Mysore Chicken Fry. Under the main course, the Meen Moily and Goan Vegetables Xacuti are sure to appeal to your tastebuds. Also, in desserts, the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake is worth a try.
Another innovative aspect of Autobahn is that the leftover food is not disposed of; instead, a compost pit is used. Otherwise, the remaining food is distributed amongst the poor.
