In the list of restaurants having innovative themes, Chennai’s ‘Robot Restaurant’ is the latest addition. Yes, in the city’s Mugilivakkam-Porur district, a new robot-themed restaurant has opened to entertain patrons looking to relish Indo-Asian cuisine dishes.
There are a total of 7 robots at the eatery; they are donned in blue and white colors. Interestingly, you can have a conversation with them too; yes, they can speak in English and Tamil. Also, they are programmed to ask for the client’s preferences, guide them to their tables and serve food as well as drinks.
Upon entering the restaurant, you can talk to the ‘female robot’ who will allot a table number and respond to any of your other queries. After being seated at the table, you can place your order through a tablet that is kept on each table. When your order is ready, the robots will carry the dishes to your table.
The cost of the robots is estimated to be around 5-7 lakhs each. Moreover, the restaurant’s staff members are well-trained to manage the robots. Besides, they have been taught how to deal with emergency situations concerning the robotic machines if the need arises.
According to the restaurant’s General Manager, Kailash, the ‘Robot Restaurant’ has 3 branches in India at present. However, there are plans to open another branch at Bengaluru shortly, he says. Also, the robots do not have names as yet and he mentions that they will organize a name-keeping ceremony after getting feedback from their clientele.
